From Palestine Police:
TWO ARRESTED ON MURDER CHARGE
On 09-09-2012 officers from the Palestine Police responded to a reported fight at the corner of Howard St. and Illinois St. Officers responded to this location and found the victim lying near the street.
An ambulance was called to the scene and the victim was transported to the Palestine Regional Medical Center for treatment. The victim, Jason Villanueva, had received a stab wound to the upper chest area. Villanueva died from his injuries.
Justice of the Peace James Todd pronounced Villanueva as being deceased at the Palestine Regional Medical Center. Judge Todd ordered an autopsy be performed due to the nature of Villanueva's death. The victim was transported to the Forensic Medical Center of Texas located in Tyler, Texas for said autopsy.
Officers were able to detained, 23 year old, Jose Arturo Garcia and 36 year old Franco Garcia during the initial stages of the investigation. These subjects were detained in the 700 block of Cottage St. Officers were able to determine that both Jose and Franco Garcia were involved in the fight that led to the death of Jason Villanueva. Jose Garcia and Franco Garcia were arrested and booked into the Anderson County Jail. Both Jose and Franco have been charged with FELONY MURDER. There has been no bond set at the time of this release.
The investigation is still ongoing. The Palestine PD will provide additional information when it becomes available.
