Mosquito repellant drive for families in need

Posted: Updated:

Tyler TX - Green Bug is partnering with area agencies and businesses in an effort to combat West Nile Virus in the East Texas. The company is collecting mosquito repellant to distribute through PATH, Andrews Center and the Bethesda Health Clinic to those living on limited incomes, free of charge.

Collections of repellant are being held at area Kidd Jones stores in addition to the agencies listed above. Green Bug will be holding the drive from September 10 through September 21.

The repellant collected at the Kidd Jones locations will be given to the distributing agencies for their clients.

"We want to provide an additional layer of protection for families who are less fortunate and thus may be less protected," said Gino Springer, owner of Green Bug. In addition, the Green Bug company has donated over 120 mosquito treatments in efforts to help needy families control the mosquito populations around their homes.

"This mosquito repellant drive is just another portion of the outreach we feel like is a true need in this area," Springer added. "I want to thank Kidd Jones, PATH, the Andrews Center and Bethesda Clinic for helping with these efforts. Pulling together like this can certainly help save lives when we can keep the mosquitoes away."
