LONGVIEW/GREGG COUNTY (KYTX) - Gregg County's population in the latest U.S. Census resulted in a scheduling change for early voting.
Beginning this fall, early voting will be held over the weekend, not just at the courthouse, but in all four county commissioner precincts.
State law requires that all counties with at least 120,000 residents hold weekend early voting in each commissioner precinct as well as the courthouse, according to Gregg County Elections Administrator Kathryn Nealy.
In 2010, the U.S. Census Bureau counted 121,730 residents in Gregg County. That marked a 9.3 percent increase from the 2000 Census.
