TYLER (TYLER MORNING TELEGRAPH) - Tyler Junior College will offer two workshops today for workers displaced from jobs at Carrier, Trane and other area manufacturing companies.
The Retrain and Return Workshops will combine information about attending or returning to college after time away from school, as well as information about the opportunities available for federal financial aid, according to a college news release.
Two sessions are available: 1 to 3:30 p.m. or 5 to 6:30 p.m. Both will be in the White Administrative Services Center Board Room at the corner of Fifth Street and Baxter Avenue on the TJC main campus.
There is no charge and no need to RSVP.
Discussion topics include: college admissions, registration and financial aid procedures; testing requirements; TJC Careers Services offerings; the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) process; and the Special Conditions process for displaced employees.
Displaced workers who are eligible to benefit from federal retraining funds may also be eligible for financial aid to help with expenses, according to the news release.
