Two men suffer minor smoke inhalation fighting kitchen fire - KYTX CBS 19 Tyler Longview News Weather Sports

LONGVIEW/GREGG COUNTY (KYTX) - Two maintenance workers at Village South Apartments in Longview suffered minor smoke inhalation while fighting a kitchen fire in one of the apartments.

Residents of the apartment in the 700 block of South Green Street were cooking grease but left the grease unattended to change a flat tire, Longview Fire Marshal Johnny Zackary said. The grease ignited into a fire, and two Village South maintenance workers tried to douse the flames with a fire extinguisher.

Both men were treated at the scene by EMS for minor injuries. The apartment suffered fire damage to the kitchen and cabinets, as well as smoke damage in the living and dining rooms, Zackary said.
