Tyler, Texas (KYTX) -- A member of the East Texas Islamic Society is speaking out on the deadly attacks that claimed four American lives Tuesday in Libya.
Earlier today, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said "These attacks should shock people of all faiths." The actions, also saddening those who share the same faith as the criminals.
"These people killing innocent lives is completely against Islam and the teaching of God in the Koran," Anwar Khalifa, Outreach Coordinator for the East Texas Islamic Society, said.
Khalifa says he doesn't want this latest incident to fuel negative stereotypes here in America. "It's always sad when there's any loss of life. You should not judge a whole group of people by the actions of a few, because you always have extremes in any groups of people," Khalifa said.
The Libyan Ambassador to the U.S. is vowing to bring those responsible to justice, and soothing fears.
Khalifa feels like Libya is on the right track with a future much brighter than its past.
The flag atop the White House was lowered at half staff today as a tribute to the four Americans killed in the attacks.
