Jaime Gerik - KYTX CBS 19 Tyler Longview News Weather Sports

Jaime Gerik

Jaime Gerik anchors CBS19 News@5 and is a reporter at KYTX. She joined the news team in June of 2012 and has lived all over Texas. She says with its southern food and warm hospitality, it's pretty obvious she loves the Lone Star State.

Before coming to KYTX, Jaime worked as the morning show anchor at the Fox affiliate in Lubbock, Texas and also as a reporter. Some noteworthy stories of hers included a major drug-trafficking ring discovery that led to the ousting of a local sheriff, and a devastating salmonella outbreak at an area peanut plant. However, the stories she loves covering most are those from the people in the community.

Jaime graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in broadcast journalism and is a huge Longhorn fan. While at UT, she learned the ropes of the news business by working at the campus station and interning at YNN and Fox 7. She says she's fortunate to have a job where there is something new to experience and learn everyday.

Jaime was raised in the small town of Columbus, Texas--that's west of Houston-- and is very close to her family. Her parents tell her all those years getting in trouble for talking in class, evidently counted for something.

When she's not at work Jaime enjoys traveling, exercise, and, most importantly, eating. She'd love any restaurant recommendations in addition to your East Texas story ideas. You can email her at jgerik@cbs19.tv.
