TYLER (KYTX) - Tyler ISD has confirmed there is a first grade student at Andy Woods Elementary diagnosed with Whooping Cough.

Spokeswoman, Laura Jackson with TISD says the North East Texas Public Health District informed the school district this morning of the case.

Jackson says the child was not in school today.

Parents have been notified by notes sent home with students at Andy Woods, as well as a call from the Rapid Alert System.

TISD is urging parents to keep a watch for symptoms in their children as a precaution.
