East Texas apartment loses power after man hits utility pole

From Tyler Police:

On September, 16 2012 at approximately 2:03 am, off duty Officer J. Doughton, witnessed a major accident in the 2700 block of S. Broadway.  A white Ford Expedition, driven by Cody D. Brown 22 of Whitehouse, left the roadway and struck a utility pole. After stopping, she observed Brown, exit the vehicle and start walking north bound away from the scene. Officer Doughton attempted to contact Brown at this time. Upon seeing Officer Doughton, Brown attempted to flee on foot. After a short pursuit and with the help of a citizen Brown was taken into custody. He was subsequently arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated and other charges. The accident caused the power to go off for the residents at Broadmore Apartments. Utility crews are on scene, to restore power to the residents.
