Construction begins on LeTourneau's $14 million student center

LONGVIEW (KYTX) - LeTourneau University announced a historic fund raising campaign and broke ground today on a new 60,000 square-foot student center following a celebration chapel service in the Belcher Chapel and Performance Center, according to Paterno Pres. Dr. Dale A Lunsford.

The historic $27.5 million fund raising campaign is the largest in the university's history and the university's first comprehensive campaign to fund student scholarships academic excellence global service learning Center for Faith and work initiatives in campus facilities including a new student center and athletic village.

Officials broke ground on a new student center with a construction value of $14 million. The center will be named after Longview City Councilman Sidney Allen, a long time LeTourneau University benefactor.

The university hopes to reach it's goal by December 2014.
