UPDATE (TYLER MORNING TELEGRAPH) - A man suspected of burglaries that occurred earlier today was struck and killed while he and an accomplice were walking along Texas Highway 110 north of Tyler this morning.
Texas Department of Public Safety spokesperson Jean Dark said Colton James Bain, 23, was struck by a silver or gray Dodge pickup close to 6 a.m. at County Road 48 and 110.
Trooper Dark said Bain died as a result of his injuries sustained in the incident as he and an accomplice walked along the road.
"Smith County Sheriff's deputies found some evidence and some items on the two men that are believed linked to some burglaries in the area," she said.
Trooper Dark said troopers are still searching for the pickup.
"We don't know if the driver even knows they hit someone, but the vehicle should have front end damage," she said.
SMITH COUNTY (KYTX) - DPS troopers are investigating an early morning accident that left one man dead.
DPS tells CBS19 they received a call about the accident around 6:18 AM. It happened on Highway 110 near County Road 48. 23-year-old Colton Bain James was walking down the road when a vehicle hit him.
DPS troopers are looking for a silver or gray Dodge Ram truck with front end damage. They are asking anyone who may have witnessed the accident to please come forward.
