UPDATE:  (KYTX) - The body found in Lake Jacksonville has been identified as 24-year-old Marvin Freeny.

Jacksonville Police Detective Jermey Pate tells CBS 19 that the body was found under a pier around 8:30 a.m. by a fishermen at Bird Creek, a narrow cove on Lake Jacksonville.

Jacksonville Police Department is the leading investigation on what appears to be an accidental death, Detective Pate tells CBS 19, although we cannot confirmed at this time.

Pate says that it appears the body has been there for about 1-2 days, and a missing person report had not filed.

 


 

JACKSONVILLE (KYTX) - A fisherman discovered a body on Lake Jacksonville Wednesday morning.

Cherokee County Game Warden Brian Bearden confirms with the Daily Progress that the body was found around 8 a.m. under a private pier.

The black male appears to be in his mid-20s. His body has been sent to Tyler for an autopsy.

Jacksonville Police Chief Reese Daniel tells the Daily Progress that it appears to be an accidental death although that can't be confirmed.

The exact cause of death is under investigation by the Jacksonville Police Department.
