(CNN) - Your mailbox may be getting a lot more junk mail soon.

The New York Times reports the U.S. Postal Service is working to greatly increase its direct-mail advertising customer base. That means more so-called junk mail deliveries to millions of mailboxes, and a lot more revenue for the struggling USPS.

The Times says the Postal Service estimates increased mail marketing could create more than a billion dollars in new revenue every year
