ETMC unveils new bicycle response team - KYTX CBS 19 Tyler Longview News Weather Sports

TYLER (KYTX) - ETMC is rolling out a new response team to help cut down on response time.

"Our folks will be performing in groups of 2 just like an ambulance".

The bicycle response team is made up of 12 paramedics and EMTs who meet fitness standards. The hope is the bicycle medics can get to the sick or injured more quickly in crowded areas like at special events.

"Concerts, festivals, anyplace there's large crowds, where it would be hard to maneuver we will attempt to use our bike patrols"

Each medic carries basic life support equipment and supplies on the back of their bicycle. The team spent its first day on the job at the East Texas State Fair.
