WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (KYTX) - A motorcyclist from Tyler died early Thursday when he lost control of his cycle, police told a Pennsylvania newspaper.

According to the Sun-Gazette newspaper in Williamsport, Pa., 41-year-old Patrick M. Weldon lost control of his cycle as he was traveling west on a Danville, Pa., street at about 2 a.m. Thursday. The cycle started to roll on its side, Weldon was ejected, his body crashed into a fire hydrant and the cycle hit a traffic light pole, police told the newspaper.

Weldon, a Tyler native who moved to Pennsylvania about two years ago to work at nearby gas wells, was transported to a Williamsport hospital, where he later died. Police said he was not wearing a helmet.

"He was very friendly and he liked to joke," said Weldon's friend, Tamica Dewitt, in the Sun-Gazette. She said Weldon "was very outgoing and a hard worker. He was very much a people person."
