(CNN) - Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong is taking a break from the stage to try to kick a substance abuse problem. The band announced on its website that Armstrong is entering rehab but did not go into further detail. Green Day is apologizing to concert organizers and any fans the rocker may have offended during an obscenity-laced rant at a Friday performance in Las Vegas. The frontman smashed his guitar and stormed off the stage. Green Day says the band's set was not cut short as Armstrong alleged during the incident. There is no word on whether Armstrong's stay in rehab will impact the group's upcoming tour that kicks off in late November.
