Longview man jailed following Wednesday morning foot pursuit through apartment complex

UPDATE (KYTX) - Bendrick Jarod Jones, 26, of Longview, is in the Gregg County Jail without bond, charged with several felonies and misdemeanors following a foot chase this morning at Highland Village Apartments.

According to the jail, Jones faces charges of third degree felony theft of property for a stolen truck he was driving; evading arrest with a prior conviction of the same charge; criminal trespass of a habitation; and four outstanding traffic warrants in Longview.

No bond has been set and he has not yet been arraigned. Jones was released from jail five days ago on a marijuana possession charge.

A witness who would not go on camera said he noticed the suspect throwing trash into a ditch with a firearm in his front pocket. Police spent part of the morning searching the area for the gun near the stolen Toyota Tundra that Jones was driving.

Another witness said the suspect walked into her apartment and sat down. She asked him twice to leave before he exited her apartment and began throwing rocks at the upstairs window of another apartment, she said.

 


 

 

UPDATE: (KYTX) - According to Longview Police, the suspect was driving a stolen truck from Shreveport, La.

The suspect had a firearm in the vehicle but allegedly disposed of it during the chase.

Officers are searching for the missing firearm in the 2900 block of Signal Hill Dr.


UPDATE: (KYTX) - Longview Police has arrested the suspect in the foot pursuit.

The suspect was arrested for criminal trespass of a habitation.

 


 

LONGVIEW (KYTX) - Longview Police are in a foot pursuit of an armed suspect in south Longview.

The officers are searching for the suspect at the Highland Village Apartments on Loop 281 near Signal Hill Drive.

Multiple police officers are walking the area and checking the apartment building.

KYTX CBS 19 is on the scene and will bring more updates as they become available.
