Longview Symphony Orchestra celebration, performance Saturday

LONGVIEW/GREGG COUNTY (KYTX) - A night of celebration and classic musical works will fill Trinity Episcopal Church on Saturday, Sept. 29.

The Longview Symphony Orchestra will perform with the Kilgore College Chorale and the East Texas Community Chorus in a presentation of Masterworks for Orchestra & Chorus. It's part of the Longview Symphony Orchestra's Orchestral Concert Series.

Soprano Alyssa Marshall, tenor Jon Starling and baritone Tim Konvalin will also perform in the presentation that begins with a 7:20 p.m. fanfare and 7:30 p.m. concert.

The orchestra is celebrating Tony Kalam's 25th year as music director and conductor of the Longview Symphony.

On the musical menu: Johann Sebastian Bach's Prelude in B minor, BWV 869, arranged by Leopold Stokowski; Franz Schubert's Mass No. 2 in G major, D. 167; and, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's Serenade in C major, Op. 48.

Tickets are $35 for premier seating, $25 for general admission and $10 for students. Season ticket holders hold premier seats.
