GAINSVILLE, FL (NNS) -- A bloodhound from the Broward Sheriff's Office joined the massive search Friday for missing University of Florida student Christian Aguilar.

The Broward Sheriff's Office is among a growing number of police and public safety agencies that are joining the search for the 18-year-old.

The U of F student was last seen one week ago, September 20th, in a Gainesville Best Buy with his high school friend Pedro Bravo.  Bravo is now a suspect in his friend's disappearance and is being held on a charge of depriving a crime victim of medical treatment.

Police say that Bravo told investigators that he and Aguilar had fought and that he left his friend bleeding and barely breathing in a Gainesville-area parking lot.

Authorities know that Bravo bought a shovel and duct tape in the days before Aguilar disappeared.

Police speculate that the two friends may fought over a girl.  But Aguilar's father, Carlos Aguilar told the Gainesville Sun that he thinks Bravo may have been jealous of his son for his scholastic achievements and other successes he had.

Carlos Aguilar spoke briefly Friday about the anguish the ordeal is taking on him.

"I'm crying at night," he said. "Last night for the 1st time in 7 days I couldn't take it any more & I didn't go outside.  I just stayed crying & tried to recall  him, trying to see the desperation that is there.  The people have to understand: I'm not eating well, I have pain all over the place."
