WISE COUNTY (CBS 11 NEWS) – A third-grade teacher allegedly told a Texas Ranger that she had been getting high on methamphetamines everyday before work, for nearly a decade.
Vicki Sanchez Bruce, an elementary teacher in the Springtown Independent School District, was arrested Wednesday and charged with possession of a controlled substance in a Drug Free Zone.
According to the arrest affidavit, a police informant told a Texas Ranger that drugs had been delivered to a third-grade teacher at Reno Elementary School.
The informant told police Bruce bought methamphetamines on a regular basis and carried the drugs, wrapped in aluminum foil, inside a photo album. The book was apparently something she carried with her at all times, the affidavit stated.
When police approached Bruce about the allegations, she reportedly told authorities that at that very moment she had methamphetamines inside her vehicle. The car was parked in the lot at Reno Elementary.
The court papers go on to say that Bruce told police she had smoked meth "on and off," every morning before school, for the last seven years.
Bruce also admitted to police that drug transactions had been made on the campus of Reno.
The 46-year-old teacher has been placed on administrative leave from the school.
Since being arrested, Bruce has been released on a $25,000 bond.
CBS 11 News reached out to Bruce for comment but our calls were not returned.
