SMU Student Banned From Campus For Sexually Assault

(KCEN) -- A fourth-generation SMU student is now banned from campus after admitting to sexually assaulting another male student, then telling the victim, "You better not tell a soul."

Nineteen-year-old John Mahaffey is also suspended from the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity as the investigation continues.

The incident happened late Saturday night.

Mahaffey forced the other student to perform a sexual act on him according to police.

In a recorded phone call he admitted to the sexual assault.

Mahaffey was taken to jail, then released on $25,000 bond.
