'Bouquets of Croquets' benefit tournament

Posted: Updated:

TYLER - "Bouquets of Croquet" kicks off Saturday, October 13, marking the first annual fundraiser for Christian Women's Job Corps (CWJC). This women's nonprofit is in its 13th year of educating women in poverty with job and life skills. The nine week program is offered both fall and spring of every year and has impacted over 650 women in the East Texas area.

This year it offers a first in fundraising and is accompanied by yet another first: the reigning Miss Texas, DaNae Couch will throw the first "Pitch In" at 223 East Charnwood at 10:00 am. DaNae is a 24 year old law student at Texas Tec School of Law. She graduated from Baylor University Honors College with a Bachelor of Arts in English.

Miss Texas 2012 will be the Mistress of Ceremonies as she announces the twelve teams playing on the lush lawns of Charnwood Hill, now home to Loncar and Associates law firm.

Plan now to attend this fun event and stroll the grounds discovering the delights of the Victorian Sport of Croquet and a Victorian lunch. Advance Ticket sales are at Green Acres Book Store, the Scroll, Lifeway, online at www.cwjctyler.org and the CWJC non-profit, 408 West Locust Street. The cost per ticket is $35. For questions, please contact Christian Women's Job Corps at 592-4693 or email directorcwjc@gmail.com .
