UPDATE: Tyler Police Department:

TYLER (KYTX) - Tyler Police responded to 907 S. Turner on a report of a shooting in the front yard on Tuesday, October 09, 2012 at 1:53 p.m. 

Upon officer's arrival a single victim that had been shot in the lower left arm was discovered.  The victim was identified as Christopher Demetrious Crockett, B/M, 01/06/1983, of Tyler.  Crockett was transported to a local hospital with a non-life threatening injury. 

Witnesses at the scene stated a White Crown Victoria pulled up to the residence and several subjects got out of the vehicle to talk to the subjects in the yard.  After about 10 minutes of standing around, a b/m pulled out a handgun and shot Crockett one time while he stood on the front porch. 

Several males jumped back into the vehicle and fled the area before officers arrived.  Officers located the suspect vehicle at Connally and Hurt Street a short time after the shooting. 

The occupants of the vehicle were transported to Tyler Police Department and questioned about their involvement in the shooting on Turner Street.  Officers located a .22 caliber handgun in the front yard of the residence that is believed to be the weapon used in the shooting.  

Upon further investigation detectives arrested Bennie Jewels Williams III, B/ M, 06/28/1992, of Tyler.  Williams was charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and transported to Smith County Jail.

 


 

TYLER (KYTX) - Tyler Police Department are responding to shots being fired near Tyler Rose Stadium.

Information Officer Don Martin tells CBS 19 that the shooting happened around 1:45 Tuesday afternoon at 907 S. Turner.

Shots were fired after the homeowners and a group of men inside a vehicle reportedly got into an argument.  One of the occupants in the car shot 28-year-old Chris Crockett in the arm.

Crockett was taken to a local hospital and his condition is unknown.

Tyler Police are questioning several people that are possibly connected with the shooting.

No arrests have been made.
