GLADEWATER, TEXAS (KYTX) -- Skydive operators are in awe over "Fearless Felix", but they say that jump is very different from a normal one.
People asking Felix Baumgartner what it's like to free fall from the stratosphere. "In that suit you don't feel anything. It's like being in a cast. I don't know when I hit it," Baumgartner said.
He says it's important to do your homework, which took Baumgartner 5 years.
"Even though it seems like a crazy thing to do, he did it responsibly and very well thought out," Cori Todd, Office Manager of Skydive East Texas, said.
She's jumped out of a plane herself over 200 times. "After I had done it, I was so happy. To face your fear, is a good thing," Todd said.
She explains while she doesn't have a desire to copy Felix, regular skydiving is much safer than you might expect. "We've got 2 parachutes and an automatic opener if you reach a certain altitude and it hasn't opened yet then it will blow your reserve parachute"
It's a thrill that keeps most people coming back for more. Trips to the Skydive East Texas are $230 per person, and you do get a Tandem Master for support.
