Man Wanted in Fatal Hit and Run Turns Himself in

TYLER (KYTX) – An arrest has been made in the crash that left one woman dead last week. The crash occurred at approximately 5:20 p.m. last Wednesday, when the 2010 Ford F-350 truck ran off the road and struck a tree in Smith County near the city of Overton.

The driver, identified as Justin Lee Echols of Diana, was traveling North bound on CR 217 just off of FM 850 when he lost control of the vehicle in a curve and ran off the East side of the road. Dead on the scene was 27 year-old Michele Ann Allen of Harleton. Echols fled the scene.

Investigating troopers obtained an arrest warrant for Justin Lee Echols who turned himself over to Upshur County Constable Jason Weeks yesterday afternoon around 2:30. Echols was booked into the Upshur County Jail. Judge Kerry Russell of the 7th Judicial District Court, who signed the warrant for Echols, set bond at $250,000.

 


 

TYLER, (KYTX) – The Texas Department of Public safety confirms a man wanted in a fatal hit and run accident has turned himself in.  DPS says Justin Echols of Diana turned himself in to the Precinct 3 Constable for Upshur County around 2:00 p.m. Monday.  Echols faces a charge of 'Accident Involving Personal Injury or Death' a 3rd Degree Felony.

The crash last Wednesday left one woman dead. The 2010 Ford F-350 truck Echols and the victim were riding in ran off the road and struck a tree in Smith County near the city of Overton.
