(CBS) - Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is taking responsibility for the attacks in Benghazi that killed the U.S. Ambassador and three other Americans.

During a trip to Lima, Peru, Clinton told reporters it was her job and not the White House to ensure security of all of America's diplomatic missions. Republicans have criticized President Obama for his handling of the attack.

Clinton says the State Department did everything it could to keep the Americans safe.
