EAST TEXAS (KYTX) - FRESH Ideas for Seasonal Apples
This recipe comes from a good friend whose family owned an apple orchard in Barry, Illinois called Apple Basket Farms. Her great-grandfather acquired the farm during the depression and the family grew a variety of apples such as Jonathan's, Golden Delicious, Red Delicious, Fuji and Rome.
All members of the family would help with the harvest that began in August and ended in early November. This was a popular family recipe that is perfect for any occasion.
Lisa Breda's Apple Crisp

2 cups sugar
1 t cinnamon
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
3 teaspoons baking powder

Slice apples into a 9x13 ungreased pan (or two 8x8 pans). Mix cinnamon into one cups of sugar and pour over slices. Mix together the flour, salt, remaining cup of sugar, and baking powder.
