Longview Police Department:

LONGVIEW (KYTX) - On October 17, 2012 at 8:18 p.m., Longview Police were dispatched to an accident with injuries where Longview Fire had to implement the Jaws of Life in the 3900 Block of East Marshall Avenue.

When officers arrived, a witness told police that a white 2010 Nissan Cube, driven by Danielle Sierra Dunkin of Canadian, Oklahoma, was traveling east in the outside lane of East Marshall Avenue. Dunkin suddenly turned improperly from the wrong lane striking the rear of a 2000 tan Ford Explorer driven by William Robert Hathorn of Longview. Hathorn's vehicle rolled over several times.

A passenger in Hathorn's vehicle, 21 year-old Robin Hathorn, was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. Robin Hathorn was holding 5 week-old Bentley James Hathorn, and the baby was ejected from the vehicle too. The other occupants of the Explorer were wearing seatbelts. All five occupants of the Explorer were transported to Good Shepherd Medical Center. Robin Hathorn and Bentley Hathorn both received life-threatening injuries. Robin was transported from Good Shepherd to East Texas Medical Center in Tyler due to her injuries. Bentley Hathorn was life-flighted to Children's Hospital in Dallas, but later died as a result of his injuries. Dunkin was issued a citation for improper turn. Hathorn was issued a citation for no seatbelt and for no seatbelt child passenger.

The crash remains under investigation.
