Health Alert: Keep detergent pods from children

(CBS) - The government is telling parents to keep laundry detergent pods out of the reach of children. Those are the concentrated single dose capsules. The Centers for Disease Control received hundreds of reports between May and June of kids under five swallowing the capsules. Some ended up in the emergency room with vomiting and wheezing. Scientists say the pods make children sicker than other types of detergent.

(CBS) - A blood test may be able to identify women at a high risk of breast cancer -- up to 20 years before symptoms surface. Boston researchers found women with a certain combination of hormone levels in their blood were 2 times more likely to eventually develop breast cancer. Scientists say the finding could one day lead to a common test - letting doctors know which women need to be watched closely.

(CBS) - A compound in green tea may help some of those women. A small study at Columbia University found a green tea extract appears to suppress proteins that fuel cancer cells. Doctors say the study was too small to determine if the extract can prevent breast cancer, but larger studies are now being done to find out.
