HENDERSON (KYTX) -Jeff Price and Oscar Still have very different reasons why they believe they're the right person for the job as the next Rusk County Sheriff.
Republican candidate, Jeff Price, says it's his experience that makes him right for the job.
"I have 28 years of law enforcement experience." // "I've just got the experience and the knowledge to be able to do this job and be the best candidate for the county."
People lined up outside of the Rusk County Elections office to cast their early vote for sheriff and other positions.
"I like Jeff Price, he's a good man he's been in the department for a long time in the law enforcement."
Others want democrat Oscar still for their next sheriff.
"I figure that if he's a democrat he's the best for the job."
While Price is stressing his Law enforcement experience, Still says he may not have as much experience, but he's lived in Rusk County his entire life and knows what the people of Rusk County want and need.
Still was out of town on business, Monday, but we talked to him by phone, he says:
"I believe that what the Sheriff's department needs is someone coming in from the outside, with no preconceived notions on how things should be done and taking a look at every aspect of the way the department is run."
It's a decision left up to the voters in Rusk County.
"Get out and vote and that's what we need is the people to get out and cast their ballots."
Whoever wins the office will replace Sheriff Danny Pirtle who chose not to run for medical reasons.
