Woman in critical condition from fire attack

Posted: Updated:

WINNSBORO, LA (CNN) - A Louisiana woman is in critical condition this morning after she says she was set on fire in a park over the weekend.

The 20 year old African-American woman says three men wearing white hoodies are to blame. The "USA Today" reports, officers found Sharmeka Moffitt with burns on more than half of her body when they responded to her 911 call Sunday night.

She told police the men doused her in a flammable liquid. Police aren't calling this a hate crime just yet, but members of the NAACP say differently.

"Anything toward humanity that's not civilized it is an expressive will of one's thought, and love don't act out like that," says Bishop Justin Connors Sr., NAACP District VP.

No arrests have been made so far. Police say racial slurs were written on Moffitt's car following the incident. That vehicle is currently being processed and dusted for fingerprints.
