East Texas get a chance at paranormal activity at Howard - Dickinson home tour

Posted: Updated:

HENDERSON  (KYTX) - IT'S DEFINITELY NOT YOUR AVERAGE HOME.

"That's why we referred to it as the Howard-Dickinson, only two families ever lived here."

Cindy Walker of the rusk county heritage group says David Howard, a bricklayer, built the home with his brother in 1855.

Then they sold it to Katie Dickinson who lived there with her daughter.

But rumor has it that after Katie Dickinson passed in the 1950's, her ghost remained, along with the spirits of the Howard family.

Dickinson was the last to live there.

"It was heavily vandalized, and during that time it became known as Haunted."

Those who live in the area say the same

They say that it's haunted and that there's ghost in it."

Darlin Thompson works at a hair salon directly behind the Howard-Dickinson home

"It's kind of spooky, it is being right behind the house."

A spooky experience her co-worker Cherry Collins has experienced for herself.

One night I left here about 8 o'clock and there was a light on but no one was parked over there, I don't know why the light was on."

It's said that while inside, if you do see or hear something strange, know it's just the families and pretend you never saw it.

It's also said you should be very careful when looking through the mirrors because you never know what will be reflecting back at you.

Deanna Wooley with the group says it happened to Katie Dickinson's daughter.

"And one time when she was playing the organ she saw a reflection of two people behind her."

ONE OF THE MANY STORIES ....

"The pictures they could see the eyes like following them in the room."

"Definitely your imagination can get going when you're in here."

And rumor has it that ghostly figures have even been seen looking through the windows of these balconies.

The Rusk County Heritage Group says that these doors will be open this Saturday from 7 until 9:30 for you to get a ghost tour.
