Posted: Updated:

TYLER (TYLER JUNIOR COLLEGE) - Tyler Junior College will host its 5th Annual Criminal Justice Job Fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, in the Apache Rooms of Rogers Student Center on the TJC main campus. The fair is free and open to the public.

Sponsored by the TJC Criminal Justice Department and the Criminal Justice Students Association, the career fair will include all areas of the field of criminal justice and encompass local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, probation and parole agencies, county and state correctional agencies. Approximately 20 agencies from around East Texas and Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex areas, as well as Midland, are scheduled to attend.

The fair will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., giving TJC students and students from other college campuses and the public a chance to meet with representatives of approximately 20 agencies and learn about the current and future job opportunities that exist in the field of criminal justice.

"In today's uncertain job market in the United States, one area that is continuing to hire personnel is in the field of law enforcement and criminal justice," said Jason Waller, professor and chair of the TJC Criminal Justice & Public Administration Department.

"The public is encouraged to attend, as many of these agencies are in desperate need of qualified applicants and the average starting salary for a entry-level police officer is approximately $40,000 per year."
