RUSK COUNTY (KYTX) -- A Rusk County woman critically injured after a dog attack is in an East Texas hospital.

Vicki Penny with the Rusk County Sheriff's Office says the woman was going to get her newspaper Wednesday morning when five dogs in the neighborhood attacked her.

Penny says investigators don't know why the dogs attacked and they've never been violent before. A witness called 911 and helped save the woman from the dogs.

The attack is under investigation.

Board member Barry Hughes said local Stage Stores Inc. intends to purchase or lease a facility at North Bolton Street and U.S. Highway 69, which would be used as a new distribution center. The property is the former Astro Air facilities.
