TYLER (KYTX) - State Representative Leo Berman was honored at UT Tyler tonight.

Dr. Rodney Mabry handed Berman the President's Award for his help over the last 14 years building the school.

One of the biggest accomplishments Berman helped with during that time was the nursing Ph.D. Program.

"It was the first time a Ph.D. program had been awarded to a school in a smaller town than Dallas or Houston or San Antonio, and that's really what I'm proud of," says Berman.

Berman says he's happy to have played a role in growing the school and hopes the next representative will do the same.
