SMITH COUNTY (TYLER MORNING TELEGRAPH) - A Smith County jury gave a Tyler woman 85 years in prison on Thursday on a charge of possession of a controlled substance in a drug-free zone, Smith County Assistant District Attorney Jason Parrish said.

Daphne Dakeisha Ausborne, 32, will have to serve at least 15 years for the first degree felony before she is eligible for parole, Parrish said. Ms. Ausborne had one prior felony conviction in May 2010 for possession of a controlled substance for which she had received a four-year sentence. She was on parole for that offense when she was arrested for her current offense, Parrish said.

On June 14, the Tyler Police Department raided a home at 1307 Queen St., Parrish said. After searching the home, which was within 1,000 feet of the Ebenezer's Day Care Center, police recovered 14 grams of crack cocaine, scales, and other items associated with drug dealing, Parrish said.

Ms. Ausborne was inside of the residence. Police had also obtained a search warrant for her purse, which contained $200 in proceeds for drug sales, Parrish said. It was not clear if

Ms. Ausborne lived at the residence, he said.

Ms. Ausborne has a history of misdemeanor convictions going back to 2004, according to the Smith County judicial website.
