HENDERSON (KYTX) - It's been less than 24 hours since Specialist Zachary Clay drove in from Fort Hood.
He's in his hometown of Henderson getting hugs and handshakes from people he hasn't seen in a long time. But there's one person, his Great Grandfather William Decker, who wasn't expecting to see him today.
Once they saw each other, Mr. Decker embraced his great grandson.
"He's a good boy and I think a whole lot of him," said William Decker.
As he poses for pictures with his great grandson, you can tell that he's proud.
"He grew a foot since he left, I think," said Decker.
Although, he wishes he would have chosen a different branch of the military.
"He was the Navy and I decided to join the Army. So, it was quite difference in the house," said Clay.
"I thought they would go in the Navy, but they wouldn't," Laughed Decker.
But for these two, it doesn't matter whether it's the Army, Navy or Air Force. It's all about the service to our country.
"I was pretty proud of the little rascal," said Decker.
