Van Zandt County deputies find car thief after chase

Posted: Updated:

VAN ZANDT COUNTY (KYTX) - Van Zandt County Sheriff Pat Burnett tells CBS 19 the man who invaded an elderly woman's home and stole her car, is now in custody.

The man led deputies and DPS troopers on a chase Saturday when they spotted the stolen car. The man eventually bailed out of the car and proceded to run on foot. He ran through the night and it was Sunday morning that the Sheriff got a call from Van Police.

Police got a call about a suspicious person, and when they responded, they found the thief.

He had been running all night barefoot, and Sheriff Burnett says the man's feet were in bad shape, so even before he was taken to jail, he was taken to the hospital. As soon as he recovers he will be booked.

His name has not yet been released.
