Van Zandt Co. Sheriff's Office:

VAN ZANDT COUNTY (KYTX) - On October 25th, 2012, the Van Zandt County Sheriff's Office responded to a call in the Callendar Lake community in reference to an Aggravated Robbery. At approximately 21:30 pm an unknown male suspect entered the home of an elderly female. The suspect assaulted the female and drove away in her tan 2005 Toyota Camry four door car.

On the evening of Saturday October 27th, 2012, Investigators with the Van Zandt County Sheriff's Office received a tip that the vehicle was seen leaving the Enchanted Lakes area. Deputies spotted the vehicle and the suspect fled in a brief pursuit that ended with the suspect exiting the vehicle and running into a heavily wooded area at CR 4908. Van Zandt County Sheriff's Office along with the assistance of Van Police Department, DPS, Canton Police Department, Constables from Precinct #1 and #4, searched for the suspect for several hours into the night.

The following morning the Sheriff's Office received a call of a suspicious male sitting on the side of the road at CR 4908. A Van Officer spotted the suspect and the suspect again fled on foot. The Van Officer was able to apprehend the suspect who was identified as David Wayne Taylor DOB 08/29/1986 of Chandler. The suspect was brought into the Van Zandt County Sheriff's Office for Evading Arrest and Detention after being examined by the hospital for injuries sustained while hiding in the wooded area over night. Van Zandt County Investigators were then able to obtain enough evidence to issue a warrant for the Aggravated Robbery of the elderly female.

David Wayne Taylor is currently being held at the Van Zandt County Sheriff's Office on charges of Evading and Aggravated Robbery. No bond has been set at this time pending arraignment.
