Web Exclusive: Super Storm Sandy taking toll on markets, insurers

(CBS/CNN) - For the first time in more than a century, Mother Nature forces a two day shut down of the New York Stock Exchange.

Traders hope to get back to work Wednesday.  A contingency plan is being tested to try to  make that happen.  Consumer confidence data, set to be released today, is now scheduled for later in the week, and the labor department says it's on track to put out the jobs report Friday.  It's the last employment report before Tuesday's presidential election.

With massive flooding, knocked out power, thousands of grounded flights and retailers shrunken profits, Sandy's cleanup will be costly.  Insurers are getting ready to shell out billions in damages.

The president has declared a major disaster in New York and Long Island.  That means federal funding will be available to people in the area.  But, analysts say Sandy will not have a lasting impact on the overall economy.

Toyota tops consumer reports' latest reliability ranking.  The automaker's three brands-- Scion, Toyota and Lexus lead the 28 brands in the running for the top honors.  Japanese brands hold the top seven spots in the 2012 rating.  Ford came in a disappointing 27th.  Just two years ago, the automaker was considered the epitome of reliability.  Problems with new and revamped Ford models as well as a flawed electronic infotainment system tanked Ford's rating.

And for the first time in years, Verizon wireless will sell a Nokia phone.  The Lumia 822 smartphone is based on Microsoft's Windows software.  Verizon didn't provide the launch date or price.
