LONGVIEW/GREGG COUNTY (KYTX) - AAA says Halloween is the deadliest night for wrecks involving pedestrians, but Police say, if you follow traffic laws it can help drivers and children avoid tragedy.
"Take precautions and watch what you're doing."
April Anderson says she never lets her children out of her sight on Halloween night.
They are on the inside mommy and daddy are right next to them."
That's because her neighborhood gets crowded with kids and cars looking for candy.
They come in packs, it'll be busy, then it'll slow down and then another pack comes."
So tonight, drivers are asked to slow down and be very watchful while out on the roads
It is also very important for drivers to pay very close attention to the signs that are in the neighborhoods
Because with the little ghouls and goblins dressed in dark costumes, Sandra Serrano says drivers can't afford to make any mistakes.
"If there's a kid by stop if you can or slow down extremely."
Police say parents trick or treating with their child can take extra precautions by:
- Going out with your children while they are trick-O-treating.
- Dressing your children in light colors
- Dress your child in reflective clothing
"They're out having a good time, they don't think, so you have to think for them."
"You never know it could be your kid."
