Health Alert: New treatment may kill head lice

(CBS) - New research shows a new head lice treatment is very effective. A study in the New England Journal of Medicine looked at 765 patients and found 95 percent were lice free after one dose of lotion containing Ivermectin. The medication is currently prescribed in pill form to treat some parasites.


(CBS) - A new study in the journal "Sleep" suggests not getting enough sleep could cause you to overeat. Researchers found short sleep -- that's just 4 hours a night, can effect a hormone that stimulates hunger. In men, their appetite was increased. In women, they felt less full.


(CBS) - Hypnosis may help women with hot flashes during menopause. Researchers at Baylor University looked at 187 women and found hypnotic relaxation therapy reduced hot flashes as much as 80 percent. Women also had less anxiety and depression. Previous studies show hypnosis can also help lower hot flashes in breast cancer survivors.
