UPDATE: Kilgore police Capt. Roman Roberson said they have a suspect in this morning's apartment arson and are obtaining an arrest warrant.

Police ended a ground and air search for the suspect shortly before 2 p.m. Thursday. Roberson has not released the suspect's name.

UPDATE: The victim of the apartment fire tells CBS 19 that the suspect police are looking for is her ex boyfriend.

The apartment is destroyed along with all of her and her three children's belongings.

According to the victim, the suspect assaulted her as recently as Monday at her sister's house, and he was soon arrested for assault causing bodily injury and family violence.

The victim goes on to say that her and the suspect have not been an official couple since February of this year.

Red Cross is assisting the family with a place to stay.

KILGORE (KYTX) - A manhunt is underway for a suspect who set an apartment on fire at 3511 Stone Road in Kilgore.

Kilgore Fire Department quickly responded to the fire Thursday around 12:45 p.m. and extinguished the blaze.

Captain Roman Roberson tells CBS19 that there were no injuries and the fire only caused damage to that one apartment.

Reportedly there was an altercation at the location of the fire but responding officers have not confirmed if it was domestic.

According to Kilgore Police Chief Todd Hunter, the suspect is believed to be in the woods west of Danville and south of Stone Road.

Kilgore Police officers describe the suspect as being a black male with short black hair wearing dark shorts, a jacket with no shirt and tattoos on his arm.

He is not believed to be a threat to anyone.

No evacuations have been made.

Gregg County Sheriff deputies are assisting with the search.

KYTX CBS 19 has a crew on the scene and will bring more updates as they become available.
