Lawsuit expected against alcohol vote

Posted: Updated:

TYLER (KYTX) - The election is just days away now, and one popular item on the ballot is the local option for beer and wine. But, not everyone is pleased with the idea of Tyler going wet.

"Buy Local First" chairman Bob Westbrook says attorney Matthew Thigpen is expected to file a lawsuit next week to delay the turnout from alcohol propositions 1 and 2. Westbrook says it's a move they were expecting.

"It's a desperate act. It's what people do when they're getting their fanny kicked or losing the effort. And, we're just asking people to stay the course." says Westbrook.

Westbrook says all votes supporting the pro-alcohol campaign are valid and he isn't concerned about the lawsuit.

Attorney Matthew Thigpen is out of the office this week and we were not able to reach him for comment Thursday night.
