CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
An elderly woman out for an evening walk down Mulholland Drive, near Violet Road, was attacked by a pit bull Thursday.
The 73-year old Annaville resident was rushed to Christus Spohn Memorial Hospital as police tried to sort out the details.
Animal Control officers were able to get the male pit bull that is believed to have attacked the woman on a leash and into the back of their truck. The dog will be placed in quarantine to make sure it doesn't have rabies.
No charges have been filed yet in the case, but police said the owner will probably at least receive a ticket for allowing the dog outside without a leash.
Officers said a young girl was home at the time when somehow the dog got out. That's when it came across the woman during her evening walk.
"She's got some significant injuries to her neck and face," said Edward Longoria of the Corpus Christi Police Department. "Not life threatening at this point."
Police did wait on the owner of the dog to get back home before they seized the animal. Of course, if you don't keep your dog contained in your yard and they bite someone, your animal could end up being euthanized, and you could be fined and or sued.
