Tyler, Texas (KYTX) -- With 171,000 new jobs added over the past month, President Obama's camp is saying that shows the economy is improving. But if you ask Romney supporters, it's too little too late.
Pam Perez made her choice for President today, wanting to see a change in the economy.
"Because in these last 4 years, my husband has lost his job and had to move out of state, and it's been hard," Perez, who voted in Smith County today, said.
The U.S. Labor Department numbers show unemployment rose a tenth of a percent from 7.8% to 7.9%. Analysts say that's because more people considered themselves part of the workforce in October compared to the month before.
But Perez doesn't think the added jobs are enough to change people's minds if they had decided to vote for Republican candidate Mitt Romney.
"It's kind of late in the game. He should have been doing things a little sooner," Perez said.
But others say the new jobs may just be the tipping point undecided voters need. "I think up until the last minute, until you press the button, something can influence you," Danny Waffer, a Smith County voter, said.
Waffer hopes days before the election, people pay attention to facts. "Jobs are improving and there is 171,000 new jobs I think so that's a plus"
Some question whether either candidate can do the job. "On that ballot, you don't have a button that says none of the above," Brenda Oswald, another voter, said.
