Fatal wreck, school bus fire reported in Longview this afternoon

UPDATE: Police have confirmed that 18-year-old Cristian Ali Monreal died at the scene of the fatal rollover wreck on Airline Road. The other three passengers - all teens - were transported to area hospitals, one with life-threatening injuries.

Longview ISD spokesman Adam Holland confirmed that all four passengers were Longview High School students. Grief counselors have been called to the school Thursday morning, he said.


 

 

LONGVIEW/GREGG COUNTY (KYTX) - Longview first responders are on the scene of two major vehicle incidents in the city this afternoon.

Longview police and fire are at a one-vehicle rollover wreck on Airline Road at Skyline Drive, about one block from Longview High School. According to Longview police spokeswoman Kristie Brian, four people were involved in the wreck and one person has died.

Longview firefighters also responded to a school bus fire on Fairmont Street at Miami Drive. According to Fire Marshal Johnny Zackary, there were about 60 students on the bus when the fire broke out. No one was injured, but the bus suffered significant damage, Zackary said.
