Health Alert: Statins may reduce cancer deaths

(CBS) - A new study finds cholesterol lowering drugs can reduce cancer deaths up to 15 percent. Researchers at Copenhagen University say statins cut off the effect of cholesterol in cells, which can limit the growth of malignant cells. They say more trials are needed before statins are prescribed for cancer patients.

(CBS) - Drinking black tea may lower the risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Researchers in Switzerland analyzed data from 50 nations and discovered lower numbers of type 2 diabetes in places where people drank a lot of black tea. Doctors say the fermentation process that turns green tea black provides several health benefits.

The effect was not the same with negative or neutral words. Doctors believe the caffeine impacts language dominant regions of the brain.
