Frustrations grow as Sandy victims remain without power

Posted: Updated:

(KYTX) - Frustrations grow as many people on the Northeast still have no power -- two weeks after superstorm Sandy slammed the coast.

After toughing it out through Sandy, and last week's Nor'easter, many were in the dark about when their power would be restored.

Power companies promised power back to customers by the end of the weekend. But for some, that's only one of their problems.

"I can't leave my home. I can't leave, I'm afraid to leave my home, I don't want what I have left to be taken from me, and for my kids to be even more devastated than what they are," says Diana Camerada, a victim of the superstorm.

In a press conference Saturday, the Long Island Power Authority stressed that getting residents back online is their top priority... saying 99% of customers will have power restored by Tuesday.
