We live in the South, so some of us may have a Southern accent, but would you consider saying "goodbye" to "howdy, y'all"?
The Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee was going to offer a speech class for its workers next month to do just that, until it got canceled.

Tyler ISD:

(KYTX) - Bonner students help with the service project by sorting the recyclable goods and tracking the amount of money raised for the organization.

"I feel good about myself for doing this for all the dogs and animals that don't have homes," fifth -grader Jose Fidel Segura said.

Stephanie Jones, technology applications teacher, and Kristina Salonen, instructional technology specialist, came up with the idea for the service project.

"This project teaches our students about the value of caring, which is something they can pass on to others," Jones said. "The students are so excited about this project, especially the fact that they're helping some of the animals in our community."

The money donated to Tonya Griffith Animal Rescue will be used to build or remodel shelter for the animals. Tonya Griffith Animal Rescue is a no-kill rescue group that has helped place hundreds of dogs and cats in loving homes. The rescue organization also helps low income and disabled individuals get their pets spayed or neutered.

The service project lasts through February. In addition to aluminum and tin cans, and empty printer cartridges, the school is also collecting gently used or new dog beds, leashes, collars and other non-perishable pet items from the community. – Students and teachers at Bonner Elementary School are turning trash into treasure by collecting and recycling aluminum and tin cans and empty printer cartridges. The school is donating the money they raise to Tonya Griffith Animal Rescue in Tyler.
